“There are those who enter the world in such poverty that they are deprived of both the means and the motivation to improve their lot. Unless they can be touched with the spark which ignites the spirit of individual enterprise and determination, they will only sink into apathy, degradation, and despair. It is for us, who are more fortunate, to provide that spark”
— His Highness, The Aga Khan

What is Ground-Up?

It all started with one wish; to donate a water tank to one school in Morogoro, Tanzania, the home town of one of our founding members, Kam Haji.

Kam travels to Tanzania each year, but in 2018 he asked his business partners to join him in donating a water tank to a much-deserving elementary school in his home town.

When Kam came back from his trip, he asked Garet and our Marketing Specialist, Shaylene Flanagan, to meet with the intention of turning one act into an ongoing project.

When they talked for the first time, they saw a future that didn’t just revolve around water, but also provided education, access to basic human needs, and building strong foundations, from the Ground-Up. And so, the name was born.

Ground-Up has donated 26 water tanks to 26 schools in Tanzania, providing access to clean drinking water to over 26,00 students.
